The relief of the Madonna della Misericordia shows the emblem of the Scuola della Carità on her chest. The crowned Virgin holds the cloak with her hands. It is located on the Grand Canal side of Palazzetto Barbarigo across from the church of S. Stae.


How to get there. The best place to admire this relief is from the middle of the Grand Canal during a vaporetto or gondola ride. Stay on the right-hand side of the vaporetto (line 1, direction Ferrovia) and you will see the relief soon after passing the first canal after fermata Ca' d'Oro. If you are riding the vaporetto direction San Marco, stay on the left-hand side and you will see the Madonna when the vaporetto stops at fermata S. Stae. On land, the best vantage point is from Campo S. Stae right off the fermata.
