Le Zitelle, Giudecca.
Le Zitelle is the third church
on the Giudecca Canal attributed to Palladio (the other two certainly designed by the architect are San Giorgio Maggiore and Il Redentore). It was built (1582-1586) after the death of Palladio by Jacopo Bozzetto and dedicated to the Presentation of the Virgin. The name Zitelle makes reference to the hospice for young maidens (single women without dowry) that surrounded the church.
